This Bead Dog project with the LSPCA has certainly been a major highlight of the past few weeks. The Bead Dogs will be on public display through November before going up to auction. We don't have to kiss them goodbye just yet!

Bead Dog #2!!]]>Thu, 10 May 2012 10:01:02 -0800http://www.galleryburguieres.com/8/post/2012/05/sneak-peek-bead-dog-2.htmlI found out yesterday that this Bead Dog will be displayed in Coliseum Square Park in the Lower Garden District. It's a beautiful park in a fabulous location, and I know from personal visits and countless drive-bys that people are always out with their canine friends enjoying the huge oaks and the sprawling walkways.

In the spirit of the beauty of the park's floral and faunal inhabitants, I'm working to imbue this dog with the serenity, complexity, and grace of the natural world. Oh, and also the party-hard vibe of New Orleans. It still needs work, but here's a sneak preview:

]]><![CDATA[The Swap: One Bead Dog for Another!!]]>Mon, 30 Apr 2012 09:42:03 -0800http://www.galleryburguieres.com/8/post/2012/04/the-swap-one-bead-dog-for-another.htmlI'm so happy :D I finished my Bead Dog sponsored by Trinity School in the Garden District, and got sponsored for ANOTHER one by the LSPCA!! That means I have a new dog to work on all this week, and get to continue being part of this fabulous fundraiser and public art project. Mom and I took a whole bunch of pictures of the swap (trading my completed Bead Dog for a brand new blank one!!). The finished one is getting varnished and is set to be installed early in May.

I was so excited to meet them, and they were so sweet. They said they loved my work! Here is an update, the Bead Dog is almost done... Until further notice I'll be working on it in the studio at 736 Royal! Come by to visit, or in a week or two you can see it at Trinity at 1329 Jackson Avenue in NOLA's Garden District. :)

That means I got to pick one up to paint, and it will be on display at Trinity Episcopal School & Church in the Garden District. I'm very honored and excited, especially because the students apparently voted on designs and they chose mine! Nothing like being chosen by a discerning group on the merit of your art alone. I'm putting in my hours to make this the best Bead Dog I can make, as a thank you for their support and sponsorship.
